'Muir' (Scottish Gaelic meaning sea, Scots meaning moor and fen) is an ongoing project exploring a five generation family connection to specific locations in the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
Evidence of settlements going back centuries lie along these rugged coastlines, and the sea continues to influence the lives of crofting communities today. Water has shaped every aspect of this landscape, through ice movement, rainfall, lochs and the increasingly powerful action of the sea.
The project visually explores an evolving symbiotic relationship with the land and the sea, considering the changing ecology, the impact of the climate crisis, and the use of natural resources as both subject and process
