Selected images from 'A footpath through winter'

'A footpath through winter' is the culmination of four months spent walking and documenting a local footpath, experiencing subtle changes in the natural landscape, day by day. Through slow, immersive practice, I took the time to stand and look, observing and capturing often unnoticed moments throughout the season.
The series brings together digital landscape photographs with sustainable alternative analogue processes. Cyanotypes were toned with plants and natural materials foraged from the footpath, and miniature pinhole and 35mm film were developed using a plant-based developer made from nettles.
Representing a collective day from dawn to dusk, the images take you on a journey along the route of the path, passing hay meadows, woodland, agricultural fields and water meadows, winding back and forth across the brook.
The experience of walking the footpath and my personal connection to the local landscape became an integral part of both the process and the visual outcomes.
