This series explores the connections between people, place and time, telling the story of one house and garden through four generations of my extended family.
Following the death of my great uncle, I spent two months photographing Croft Cottage, capturing significant places and poignant moments. Throughout the process, I felt a deep connection to family members I never knew, uncovering a rich history through personal items, archival photographs, and in the very fabric of the building. These collected memories reflect the passing of time, through the lives of those who have lived and spent time in Croft Cottage.
A family home is a place which encapsulates love and nurture, harmony and chaos, sadness and joy, memories and aspirations. While this is the story of one family in one house, I hope elements will resonate with others, especially those who have experienced loss.
